20 Simple Wrinkle Erasers

In this next year I will walk confidently into my 50’s! I look at that number and then I look at myself in the mirror and say, “WHAT? 50 years old! No Way, you don’t look 50 at all!” And I meet up with people all the time and we delve into conversation about how life is going, and I always talk about my 2 beautiful grandchildren, and again people stop the conversation and say, “WHAT? You have grandkids? You look far too young to have grandkids! I thought you were in your mid to late 30’s!” I can’t say I am not flattered, because I am (blushing here!) I am also very thankful for the comment and compliments, but most of all, I have embraced some of the very best Holistic methods for reducing wrinkles and aging, some of which are listed below!
Aging of the skin is a natural process by which the collagen and elastin, that keep our skin looking firm and youthful, begin to decline, this results in wrinkles. Cell production and cell quality also diminish over time resulting in wrinkles. These factors unfortunately are out of our control, though diet and supplements can slow down the process, it won’t stop it.
The influences that are within our control are largely environmental such as pollution (eg; smoking) and sun damage. Here are 20 easy ways to reduce wrinkles and slow down the aging process.
Stop smoking (It’s #1 for a reason) I conquered this in my life, reach out and ask me how!
Always wear sunscreen whether it’s cloudy or sunny and don’t sunbake. (In my younger and more foolish years, I can attest to lathering up in baby lotion and sunbaking for hours at a time! Learned a lot and changed my ways! Now sunscreen is key!)
Hydrate your skin by drinking about 8 glasses of water a day. (Find yourself that special drinking bottle that you really love and don’t mind carrying it with you wherever you go! Fill it up on a regular basis and sip all day long! I am thankful to my beautiful friend who gifted me with a “Welcome to the new job” water bottle. I fill this baby up 4-5 times per day when at the office and carry it with me just about everywhere else I go!)
Use skincare products that contain antioxidants and AHA's. (You want to reach out to me to learn more about this and what I use!)
Moisturize the skin on your face twice daily. (It doesn’t just help you look great, but you feel smooth and silky all the time! Wash all those environmental toxins off your body and lather up!)
Reduce stress. (Try reading, exercising, meditating) 15 minutes a day is a good start. (Come on over to the Programs page and join one of my free programs!)
Reduce alcohol consumption. Overindulging can put enormous strain on your system and will accelerate wrinkles forming. (As with the excessive sunbaking in my younger years, I also had a bit of taste for good spirits to drink! These days you will find me sipping on refreshing and natural bubbly drinks that are alcohol free! My body is thanking me daily!)
Eat healthily by incorporating plenty of fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. (Don’t over think this one. It is totally doable to get all the servings of fruits and veggies into your daily intake! I can show you ways you would love!)
Sleep at least 8 hours every night. (Find that bedtime routine that works for you and get practicing! For me, it doesn’t matter if I am home or on holidays somewhere, my evening routine before bed has always helped prep my mind and body to get a full nights restful sleep)
Eat fish three times a week. Great for the skin and general health. (Please be mindful and choose the wild caught fish, stay away from the farmed. Not only will your body love you for it, but you will also be helping make an impact on the atrocities that happen in the farmed fish industries)
Check with your doctor about taking supplements, your diet may be lacking some of the important ones. (A regular full bloodwork screening and review will help you and your Dr. be more aware of what is going on in your body, which in turn will help you address exactly what supplements to take and what not)
Use an eye cream for the delicate skin around the eyes nightly. (Again, ask me about this.)
Facial scrubs remove the build-up of dead cells that can increase the appearance of wrinkles, try this weekly. (Be careful with the kind of scrub you chose to use. Some can be far too abrasive, and you can damage your skin. You want to be kind and gentle to your face!)
Use natural skincare products that will nourish your skin and give it lots of vitamins and minerals to help it stay fresh and healthy. (Still here? Ask me more!!!)
Jojoba oil resembles the skin’s natural oils. Dab this around the eyes to keep wrinkles at bay. (Not in the eye, around the eye!!! Nice for a nighttime regime before closing the eyes for the 8 hours of sleep!)
Take vitamin C supplements and use products that contain vitamin C, it will help boost your collagen. (I have an AMAZING line of natural supplements I would love to share with you!)
Start a good skincare routine in your 20’s. Prevention is easier than a cure. (e-hem…don’t beat yourself down if you are well past your 20’s. You are never too old to start taking care of yourself! AND… you can reach out to the younger generation in your life to encourage them to make better choices!)
Honey is known worldwide for its beneficial abilities. Use a honey mask weekly. Simply apply the honey to your face and neck and leave for 30 minutes then rinse off. This mask will "feed" your skin with nutrients. (Only try this if you can tolerate honey and are not affected by it in the way of an allergic reaction)
Aloe Vera and Avocado oil both have the ability to prevent the skin from drying out; they are both used to improve the skin’s elasticity. (Both can be consumed internally and/or used externally)
A soothing way to help achieve a wrinkle-free face is to lie on your back with your knees elevated by placing a pillow or cushion beneath them. Try this when you are watching TV or reading. (Think of the blood flow! Head over to my website and check out some of the free programs. From time to time there will be new Yoga sequences added and one of my favorite routines for my body is “Legs Up the Wall”)
